Happy Holidays!

It’s the end of the year. The holiday season has begun, and people all over the world are celebrating! How will you celebrate?

This month we learned about how people from different countries celebrate Christmas. For instance, in Austria, there is a half-man, half-beast friend of Santa called “Krampus”. He searches for naughty children, and takes them away in a basket!

In Germany, on Christmas Eve, a single pickle is hidden somewhere on the tree. When Christmas morning comes, the person to find it gets an extra present!

“They’ll never find it!”

We also learned about how people celebrate New Year’s around the world. In Spain, people eat 12 grapes at midnight. When the clock strikes 12, people eat one grape at a time as the clock chime rings out 12 times.

In Japan, we learned about their traditional New Year’s decorations, and why people eat soba. We also learned about “Namahage”.

Wow! Let’s be good in 2024!
