Mochi Pounding

This week, our kindergarten students took part in a traditional Japanese New Year activity — mochi pounding — and it was such a joyful experience for everyone!

The children watched closely as the sticky rice was turned into soft, stretchy mochi, and they cheered each other on while taking turns helping with the pounding.

After all the hard work, the students enjoyed seeing (and tasting!) the results of their efforts, making the day extra special and delicious. Events like this help children connect learning with real-life traditions, creating memories they’ll carry with them for a long time.
