Today we learned about a Brix scale. A Brix scale is a useful tool for measuring the sugar content of liquids.
Everyone was very interested to see how to use the brix scale.
Do we put it in someone's ear?
We had two different vegetables, a carrot and a radish. Which one has more sugar?
First we had to grated the radish to get some radish juice.
Who wants to help?
Next we put the radish juice onto the brix scale.
It measured 3.
Next we tried the carrot. We grated the carrot and put the juice onto the brix scale.
It measured 8.
The carrot has more sugar! It tastes sweeter.
We had a lot of fun learning about the Brix scale.
